Has the STANDARD ever changed?
What is the standard?
Holiness. Plain and simple.
The Bible says :
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 KJV
And he (JESUS) said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23 KJV
Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Colossians 4:6 KJV
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. 1 Peter 1:15 KJV
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matthew 5:14 KJV
It is very Hard to walk upright before God in this day and age. Especially in Modern Day America. You cant sit down to watch TV, listen to the radio, walk down the street, or get on the internet without being bombarded with a bunch of FILTH! It is ridiculous.I think that it is time for the SALT OF THE EARTH to stand up and be counted, for the LIGHT OF THE WORLD to start shining brighter than ever before. I challenge you to today, to stand up and say “Yes, Jesus I will do what you want me to, I WILL LIVE HOLY.” Will you do that?

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. 1 Peter 1:15 KJV He didn’t say that you become holy because of your walk. It is unto us as we believe in our heart, out of the fullness of our heart our mouth speaks. If we believe in our hearts that we are made holy by Christ, then we are. In Job 22:28 Decree a thing and it shall be established unto you. So by our decree, confession, or conversation, we become holy, because we believe God.
:goodjob: Interesting… James also says that a man who can control his tongue is capable of being perfect! Hmm……. I’ll tell you what, I know that the only way to achieve becoming what God wants you to be, is with his grace moving you there. But why would you cry out for the grace if you like your sin? (Pleasurable for a season) Why would you seek his hand, if you think you can do it yourself? I confess, I will be holy because He is holy. I will be holy with His grace to help me achieve it. I will be holy because I love HIM. :heartbeat:

hmmm.. but i wonder what being or living holy is??> Is it reading our bible and praying all day? Is it not watching tv or movies? Is it living in community? Worshiping God? While i will admit sometimes i think some Christinas do either too much (busy-bodies) or too little (lazy); it seems that there should be a middle, a balance.
I do think God wants us to enjoy life, but put him first. Im not saying i disagree with you – im just typing some thoughts your post brought up in my own mind. What a great post and call for us to think of God and grow closer to him than we do. May we take time to stop and listen to God, take time to stop what we are doing and obey God instead of self.

As Heidi Baker says it, “I want to be a layed down lover of Jesus.” Meaning that I am in constant communion with the Father. Just like Jesus was. He wants us to be moved when he is moved, to cry when he crys, and to be in sync with his heartbeat. That is how we know we are living it.
